ABOUT

Julia Haines DeFrancesco is an artist and educator born and based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her practice utilizes textiles and photography-based media in order to investigate the impact of architecture upon memories. Julia received her MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2024. In 2019, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tyler School of Art, obtaining a BFA in Fiber & Material Studies.

Julia has exhibited work in the Philadelphia galleries such as Da Vinci Art Alliance, Vox Populi, The Plastic Club, and Stella Elkins Tyler Gallery. She has also participated in art events including the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts’ Print Sale, the Girard Avenue Street Festival, and the Rittenhouse Fine Art Show. Her work has been featured in The National Liberty Museum. 

In addition to her studio practice, Julia is also a Level II Certified PA Educator and works as an art teacher in Philadelphia.
